Curtin Security Upgrade Project
Welcome to the Curtin Security Upgrade Project web site. The Project commenced in 2006, and was initiated to improve security and safety on Curtin's premises by the use of more effective patrols, more effective locking of buildings, improved lighting, the use of CCTV cameras, and more campus assistance points.
The Project involves adopting the latest technologies to manage building security and access, as well as a CCFT system that includes CCTV, intercom points, and Contactless Smart Card technologies. Lighting upgrades across campus, and CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) principles will also play an important role in the planning of this project. The Project aims to:
- Provide an enhanced service and response time to the University community
- Reduce (or eliminate) the need for Security staff to lock buildings
- Develop and implement Security Design Guidelines which outline the University's standards and requirements for security-related work
- Develop a model, policy and processes for managing building access
- Incorporate Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principals across this project
